Ryan grew up in the Northeast of England where he was first exposed to dance through the hip-hop culture in the form of breakdance. Becoming an active Bboy in the UK and joining the Battalions Crew, Ryan was interested to see what else dance could offer him. He was first introduced to contemporary dance whilst at Gateshead College.
In 2013 he joined the National Youth Dance Company working on The Rashomon Effect choreographed by Akram Khan and Andrej Petrovich, before going on to study a degree in dance at London Contemporary Dance School where he worked with artists including Hofesh Shechter, Dane Hurst, Sasha Roubicek and Victor Quijada.
Ryan is now looking to begin his career as dancer in an explosive fashion and is excited to be making his professional debut with James Cousins Company at the Edinburgh Fringe.
