WITHIN HER EYES
Born in Kyoto, Japan, Chihiro moved to the UK aged 14 to train at The Arts Educational School, Tring Park. After completing her studies there, she went on to gain a Certificate and Post-Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School in 2006.
Since graduating, Chihiro has worked with extensively with UK companies including Henri Oguike Dance Company, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Punchdrunk as a swing for ‘The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable’, Gecko Theatre (BBC4&Battersea Art Centre), Renaud Wiser Company and most recently with Gwyn Emberton Dance.
As a freelance dancer she has also worked with Aletta Collins, Kerry Nicholls, Paolo Mangiola, ACT theatre (Hofesh Shechter, Ramin Gray and Simon Stephens), Hetain Patel/Alexander Whitley and Akram Khan.
Chihiro is a qualified Pilates instructor, dance teacher and also an assistant Aikido (shodokan) instructor. She joined James Cousins Company in 2014 for the creation of Without Stars.
